FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 30, 2006 -- Meriwest Credit Union, one of Silicon Valley’s largest
financial institutions, has seen considerable growth with their business banking services
since its launch in January 2005.
Richard Borland, Assistant Vice President of Business Banking, who is responsible for
overseeing and monitoring the business loan portfolio, training and supervising staff, and
creating policies consistent with the credit union’s goals, has seen a considerable growth
in deposits and loans since he hired his first employee, Brad Abel, Commercial Loan Officer.
"Brad has developed good relationships with small business owners to provide the best
advice and ideas to ensure the success of their business. He has made Meriwest Credit
Union visible to the business community."
"Members have found us competitive among banks
with significant savings by avoiding the high deposit and loan fees and prohibitive
deposit requirements typical of most business banking relationships," said Borland.
Since hiring Brad Abel, Meriwest Credit Union’s Business banking division has hired one
more experienced commercial Loan officer and one customer relations representative.
The commercial loan officers promote the different types of loan products and services that
business banking offers, as well as finding new business.
The customer relations representative is the "behind the scenes" person of business banking, responsible for
handling phone calls and attaining to all business customers by providing the professional
customer service Meriwest is known for.
"Each of my staff members has the expertise of what it takes to provide the best
service to our business community. We provide a personal touch for our customers and
make sure we meet their needs when it comes to deposit accounts, in addition to lines
