Meriwest Awards Cash to Holiday Art Contest Winners

SAN JOSE, CA, November 22, 2006 - Meriwest Credit Union, one of Silicon Valley's largest financial institutions, awards cash to six winners of their Annual Holiday Art Contest. In addition to winning cash, the two first place winners' artwork will be created into Meriwest's holiday cards for 2006.
"It is rewarding to receive the artwork children submit every year. Their hard work and creativity make our program possible to give participants the chance to earn money and enjoy the benefits of banking with Meriwest," said Sandra Citrigno, Corporate Communications Specialist for Meriwest Credit Union.
The contest was open to children who like to draw between the ages of 3 to 18 and were asked to send in a drawing of a holiday scene. Once all of the art was received, a panel of judges evaluated each entry according to imagination, creativity and execution.
The following are the winners for the Holiday Art Contest:
Amanda B., 8 1/2 years old of San Jose, CA won first place for the age group of 3 to 10 and Akemi M., 13 years old of San Jose, CA won first place for the age group of 11 to 18. Both of the winners received $100, along with their artwork to be created into Meriwest's holiday cards for 2006.
Four other winners finished in second and third place. The second place winners received $50 and the third place winners received $30 respectively. Rachel B., 7 years old, of Tucson, AZ won second place for the age group of 3 to 10 and Carrie. S.H., 14 years old of Tucson, AZ won second place for the age group of 11 to 18. Finally, Catherine Z., 8 years old of San Jose, CA won third place for the age group of 3 to 10 and Jessica P., 16 years old of Morgan Hill, CA won third place for the age group of 11 to 18.
