New Memberships Yield Donations by Meriwest to Non-Profits in San Jose

06/14/07

SAN JOSE, CA - June 14, 2007 - Meriwest Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions serving Silicon Valley, the San Francisco Bay Area and Tucson, Arizona, today announced more than $2,700 in combined donations to two local non-profit organizations: the Cambrian Branch of the San Jose Public Library and American Musical Theatre San Jose (AMTSJ).

The donations were made possible through a pledge by Meriwest to give the two non-profit organizations $10 for every new membership generated during grand opening celebrations at the new Hillsdale and Cottle Financial Centers in South San Jose.

Funds will be allocated to the Library's after-school Cambrian Youth Programs, as well as AMTSJ's "Educational Matinee" program. According to American Musical Theatre San Jose, Meriwest's contribution will enable underprivileged students throughout the Bay Area to see an upcoming AMTSJ performance of "Beauty and the Beast" for free.

"For Meriwest, this is more than a donation; it's a demonstration of our lifelong commitment to the communities we serve," said Dyann Meschi, Marketing Communications Manager at Meriwest. "We're very proud to work alongside the Cambrian Library and American Musical Theatre San Jose to enhance programs that nurture the development and imagination of the younger members of our community."

"We are thrilled to have Meriwest Credit Union's support at the new Cambrian Branch Library," said Mary McLane, Executive Director of the San Jose Public Library Foundation. "Meriwest's donation reflects creativity and a strong sense of giving back to the community. Partnerships like this set a great example for other companies in San Jose."

Michael Miller, CEO and Executive Producer of AMTSJ, added: "It's organizations like Meriwest that truly enrich a community. Meriwest's contribution will create a unique opportunity for students that might not otherwise be available. Everyone at AMTSJ sends our heartfelt thanks for supporting the arts in San Jose."
