Meriwest announces the addition of Pima County, Arizona, to its Field of Membership

SAN JOSE, CA - Meriwest Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions serving Silicon Valley, the Greater Bay Area and Tucson, Arizona, announced today that they have received regulatory approval to add Pima County, the second most populous county in Arizona, to their field of membership. Anyone living, working, worshipping or who is a student in Pima County will now have access to the financial services offered to all members of Meriwest Credit Union. Previously, only employees of IBM, their family members, or members of the Tucson Zoological Society had been able to join Meriwest Credit Union. Meriwest has had a presence in Pima County since 1981, when then Pacific IBM Employees Federal Credit Union merged with IBM Sun States Employees Federal Credit Union. In 1999, the Pacific IBM Employees Credit Union changed its name to Meriwest Credit Union.
"We had been eagerly awaiting regulatory approval for this expansion of our Field of Membership in Arizona." said Meriwest Credit Union's President and CEO Christopher Owen, "We have proudly provided a financial alternative to mainstream banks for the employees of IBM for 46 years.
