Vishing Alert!

10/01/08
Recently, Meriwest Credit Union was notified that some of our members have recently been a target of vishing attacks. Vishing is the criminal practice of using social engineering and Voice IP to gain access to private personal and financial information for the purpose of committing fraud.
The fraudsters are identifying themselves as calling from the credit union. The automated calling system is asking the members to enter their account number, expiration date and CVV2/CVC2.
Please remember not to give out your account number, expiration date, CVV2/CVC2, or any other personal information without knowing who you are talking to. Remember, Meriwest will never contact you to ask for your passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive information. |
